Death Away from Home
Death Away from Home - LW Jackson & Family Mortuary
Facing the death of a loved one while away from home is a deeply challenging experience. The process of making funeral arrangements can be even more complicated under these circumstances. At LW Jackson Funeral Home, we are here to guide you through the necessary steps to bring your loved one back home, ensuring that they receive the dignity and care they deserve.

First Steps
If your loved one passes away while away from home, the first thing you should do is contact LW Jackson Funeral Home. Our caring and experienced team will provide you with guidance on the best course of action, coordinating with the necessary parties to bring your loved one home and ease the burden on your family.

Death Within the United States
If the death occurs within the United States but outside of your loved one’s home state, the family will need to arrange for transportation. This generally involves coordinating with two funeral homes: one near the location of death and one in the home area. The local funeral home at the place of passing will handle the preparation of the body, and we at LW Jackson Funeral Home will receive and arrange any services that the family desires, providing continuity and comfort throughout the process.

Death Outside of the United States
If your loved one passes away outside of the United States, arrangements can be made to have the remains returned. The preparation and shipment of the body will comply with the local laws and customs of the country where the death occurred. While embalming may not be common in every country, there are alternative methods for preparing the body for transport. Families also have the option of burying their loved one abroad, or having the remains cremated and returned to the United States.
